Gawlas, Stephanie / Overview

Hello, my name is Miss Gawlas and I teach first grade at Lowes Island Elementary. I grew up in north-eastern Pennsylvania (go Steelers!) and just recently moved to Reston,VA. I attended King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where I received a B.A. in Elementary Education. I was also very active in the college’s theatre department and added a Theatre minor. I am a huge advocate of the arts and try to incorporate them in my classroom whenever I can. My educational philosophy is based on this quote by Walt Disney: “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” I believe in encouraging and inspiring my students to reach for their dreams and to explore their fullest potential. I’m very excited for this year and can’t wait to begin!
